Type N masonry cement like Palidata King & Lafarge wallmaster is much cheaper than skimcoat. Don't leave naka rough finished yun wall then the next day i-finish ng cement. Used cemex palitada king or lafarge wallmaster. For new chb, plastering then straight to finishing using pure cement para makinis.
